As a student one of the largest costs of university is electronic equipment. A laptop can set you back quite a bit. For this reason it’s important that you know how to make savings as it could save you £100s.

Luckily, we’ve done all of the hard work for you and have found the cheapest ways to buy your favourites.

  1. Hunt for laptop deals

Finding the best deal on a new laptop can be difficult. Some stores will even sell the exact same laptop for £100s more.

The best pace to start is to know what to look for in a laptop. From this point you can use our tips to make sure you’re not overpaying.

  2. Get the best prices on phone cases

We really recommend getting a case for your phone!

It may seem like an extra expense you don’t need, but in the long term, it can save your phone from other external damage that may cost you a lot more!

  3. Protect your devices for free

Make sure to secure your devices from cyber attacks if you can.

Downloading antivirus software is a must on your laptop or computer, especially if you’re downloading from the internet regularly!

  4. Check clearance sections

Companies like Currys PC World, Typo and Maplin often have clearance sections where you can get electronics and computing for sometimes under £1!

We’ll keep an eye on any deals for you too, so make sure you check back on this page regularly.

  5. Get free software

Software can be expensive, especially if you’re looking for antivirus or video editing, but it is possible to get great software for free!

And remember to make sure you keep your laptop safe with free antivirus software from Kaspersky.

  6. Try second hand and refurbished laptops

Refurbished laptops are a lifesaver if you want to save money and have a next to brand new laptop.

Refurbished may mean that someone’s had a minor issue with the laptop in the past, sent it back and the parts have been replaced so it’s as good as new!,

Failing this, second-hand laptops can be found online on Amazon, through friends or even Facebook marketplace.

  7. Wait for Black Friday big deals

If in doubt, think Black Friday!

There are some great deals around on Curry’s PC World, Amazon, Argos and more. And of course, we’ll let you know about them on our Black Friday deal page.

  8. Save with Apple Education pricing

If you’re looking for a deal on an Apple Mac, you’ve come to the right place! Apple Education pricing on the Apple Store means you can get a 15% discount on your purchase!

Other companies offer discounts too. More on that here.
